Dear Arriela

This is for Arriela- letters from your family.

The last time we saw you was November 1, 2024. While we explained what was happening and said what we needed to say, it was clear that you did not entirely understand what it all meant.

While we hope this is a temporary separation, life has unfolded in a way we didn’t foresee.

No matter what you hear, please know this: you are deeply loved and missed daily. We always think of you and will always be a part of our lives.

This space is for sharing our thoughts, wishes, and memories of you as we look forward to the day we’re reunited. Until then, we’ll be here, celebrating and holding you close.

Your family.

Ari’s 12th Birthday: Memories and Love

Well, Happy Birthday – 12 is one of those years where things start getting interesting. Sixth grade – middle school – though I know you have been in 6th grade for more than six months.

Nana Pamma and Grandpa Frank sent a card for you – which I will keep until we see you.

There are so many times when I think we can do something together and have so much fun.

My phone brought up so many pictures of you today, and my Facebook memories did too. This is your second birthday we have missed. And, boy, I think about how you may have changed since we last saw you. I wonder if I would recognized you. I like to think I would – but sometimes we people go through the tween years, they change so much.

I do hope that if you ever see me out and about, you will say hello. I sure miss you and think about you all the time.

I hope you had a great birthday, Ari. I love you.

Nana Shelley
